Celler Escoda-Sanahuja - Celler Mendall - Clos du Tue-Bœuf
CATALUNYA
The great complicity of three estates that defend a form of viticulture without synthetic chemicals and winemaking without inputs or correctives, two Catalan winegrowers – Joan Ramón Escoda and Laureano Serres – and Thierry Puzelat of Clos du Tue-Bœuf.
In 1997, Joan Ramón Escoda took over the estate of his wife Mari Carme's family, located in Prenafeta near Montblanc in Catalonia in the Conca de Barbera appellation area. Respect for nature, the soils and the vine, for wines that reflect the grapes and the terroir in the most authentic way, such is the philosophy of the estate. It is this same philosophy that his friend Laureano Serres shares on his Mendall estate, in El Pinell de Brai, to the west of Tarragona in the Terra Alta appellation area, and that the Puzelat family, pioneer winegrowers on their Clos du Tue-Bœuf estate in Montils, near Cheverny also share. Accustomed to producing a shared cuvée – red or white depending on the vintage –, the two Catalan friends joined forces with Thierry Puzelat to produce a remarkable white blend, in 2015, Grenache Blanc, Macabeu and Sauvignon.
