Champagne Fleury
CHAMPAGNE
Pioneers of organic farming and biodynamics since the 1980s in Champagne, the Fleurys – Jean-Pierre and today his son Jean-Sébastien – are helping to restore the prestige of the Côte des Bar. The clay-limestone soil is particularly favorable to Pinot Noir, which is very prevalent, and the wines are expressed with great accuracy between aromas of fruit/dried fruit and a beautiful vinous elegance nuanced with minerality.
An old winegrowing family from the Côte des Bar, the Fleurys are pioneers. In the 1970s and 1980s, Jean-Pierre Fleury made the estate evolve towards a healthy culture and without inputs which led him – the first in Champagne – to biodynamics. On the 15 ha of the estate (supplemented by purchases of organic grapes), where Pinot Noir reigns supreme (90%, the rest mainly devoted to Chardonnay), all farming is done without chemicals. The vinifications are carried out with indigenous yeasts, and the reserve wines are aged in barrels. The precision and rigour that govern the quality of the harvest and the mastery of vinification translate into exemplary cuvées of breadth and expressiveness.
