The region of Yonne, in lower Burgundy, is dominated by the Chablis appellation. Athénaïs de Béru is part of a movement of winemakers working to producer top-drawer natural Chablis.
Since taking over the family estate Château de Béru in 2006 – in Béru, a village in the south-eastern part of the Chablis appellation area – Athénaïs de Béru has embarked on the path of organic farming, a path that gradually led to certification in 2013 and then, in the early 2010s, to biodynamic practices. This approach raises the wines of Château de Béru among the most convincing of Chablis. Athénaïs has also began to experiment with grapes purchased from other organice winegrowers, bottling under a different label (her own name), red and white wines from the Yonne, vinified with the same authenticity that differentiate her estate wines from conventional production.
