Domaine de la Renardière

Descendant of a large winemaker family from Pupillin, near Arbois, Jean-Michel Petit got involved in viticulture with the desire to remain a human-sized estate and to favor plot selections with a culture that respects the soil: a demanding philosophy that has been fully in line with the renewal of Jura wines for three decades.
Jean-Michel Petit created his estate in Pupillin in 1990 by renting a few vines from his father – who had chosen to be a cooperative member of the fruitière – then gradually expanding to an area spanning 7.5 hectares, considered adequate for the type of viticulture he practices. Under the name of La Renardière, the estate has evolved towards organic/biodynamic cultivation and opted for vinification according to the terroirs and the characteristics they transmit to the grape varieties, in particular Chardonnay and Ploussard, the two majority grape varieties in the plots. No chemicals, native yeasts in vinification, minimal doses of sulfur at bottling: precise in their aromatic and mineral expression, the estate's wines have become among the most representative of the Pupillin terroir.
