Évelyne and Pascal Clairet developed a philosophy in both the vineyard and cellar which places their Domaine de la Tournelle among the initiators of natural winemaking. They have thus inspired a whole generation of young winegrowers. The wines, in their frankness and their power of expression, are exemplary.
Trained in oenology, Évelyne and Pascal (deceased in 2021) Clairet settled in Arbois in 1991. On the 8 hectares of the estate, spread over different types of gray marl soils, the vines are farmed with a single objective: healthy and ripe grapes farmed organically or biodynamically, to allow for natural vinifications (with indigenous yeasts, no added sulphur). The wines reveal great rigour and precision, and come in cuvées whose expression varies according to the grape variety(ies), the terroir and the characteristics of each vintage. Among the most successful of the Jura, wines whose precision and energy owe everything to this respect for nature and the terroir.
