Fattoria Moretto
EMILIA-ROMAGNA
Emilia is known for one of Italy's most famous wines worldwide, and one of the most original: lambrusco, an effervescent red – “spumante” (sparkling) or “frizzante” (sparkling) depending on the case – made from various varieties of the eponymous grape variety, such as Lambrusco Grasparossa from Castelvetro, located in an appellation area where the Altariva family estate is located.
By taking over the family vines in 1991, the brothers Fausto and Fabio Altariva decided to switch to organic farming, to produce their own cuvées of lambrusco, all dedicated to the local variety Grasparossa, and to create their label under the name of Fattoria Moretto. Vinified with indigenous yeasts, then with a second fermentation in vats, the different cuvées of the estate offer a pure and tasty image of a style of wine that is too often abused.
