Jean Delobre - La ferme des 7 Lunes
RHÔNE
In Bogy, a village in the heart of the Saint-Joseph appellation, polyculture and viticulture come together at the Ferme des 7 Lunes. Jean Delobre's exemplary yet discreet work for the past 3 decades, makes him today one of the most inspiring winegrowers of the Northern Rhône.
Located on the right bank of the Rhône in the northern part of the Saint-Joseph appellation, Delobre's farm, in addition to apricot trees, fields and meadows, includes a small vineyard that Jean has been expanding 1984. The harvest used to be delivered to the cooperative cellar, but in 2001 he decided to create his own domain, adopting the evocative name of Ferme des 7 Lunes. The estate soon grew to 10 hectares of vines on the characteristic granitic soil where Syrah largely dominates, of course, bottled both as Saint-Joseph and Vin de France depending on the cuvée. Over the years, Jean Delobre has refined his thinking and his practices in his quest for naturalness: farming without inputs, working the steep plots by horse, gentle vinification, eschewing the addition of sulfur. And he is today – now with the complicity of Jacques Maurice – one of the most authentic wine makers in the Northern Rhône.
