Les Bottes Rouges - Jean-Baptiste Ménigoz
JURA
Emblematic of the young generation which is giving new impetus to the Jura vineyards – represented in particular by the Le Nez dans le Vert association – Jean-Baptiste Ménigoz is now establishing himself as one of its major figures. With his Domaine Les Bottes Rouges, he crafts wines whose frankness and depth translate into perfect drinkability.
Going from amateur winegrower – he was then a teacher – to full-time winegrower in 2012, Jean-Baptiste Ménigoz underwent a long apprenticeship which notably led him to work alongside Stéphane Tissot. A few kilometres to the west of Arbois, he created his own estate – Les Bottes Rouges – which now has 7 hectares, farmed organically and biodynamically, with the primary objective of producing wines that require no inputs (except possibly a minimum dose sulphur) and as few interventions as possible. With the complicity of his partner Florien Kleine Snuverink, he offers wines characterized by fruit, freshness and purity of expression, direct and deep whites and reds endowed with a frank drinkability which makes them highly appreciable.
