Mas Candí
CATALUNYA
A great land of wine-growing tradition, Catalonia is also a cutting-edge region in the tremendous effervescence that reigns in the Spanish appellations. The trend here is towards natural and authentic wines made from native grape varieties. An uncompromising approach in which Ramón Jané fits in a particularly convincing way with his Mas Candí estate.
Since 2006, Ramón Jané has invested in the family domain, located in Les Gunyoles d'Avinyonet, in the Penedès, at the gates of the Garraf Natural Park. On this estate essentially devoted to supplying grapes to the big cava houses, he opted for biodynamics and soon decided to produce his own wines. With the complicity of his friend Toni Carbó – who later created La Salada – he defends traditional Catalan grape varieties, exalted by healthy farming and winemaking without chemicals. By reclaiming local traditions, Mas Candí has taken an active part in the revolution of Catalan viticulture towards natural and living wines.
