Philippe Bornard
JURA
Philippe Bornard went from the status of viticultor to that of winegrower in 2005 when he released his first bottlings. Jovial and direct, like his wines, Bornard is, along with his neighbor Pierre Overnoy and his friend Fabrice Dodane, one of the great figures of the Jura.
A long-time contributing winemaker to the Fruitière de Pupillin – a village near Arbois with its own appellation, Arbois-Pupillin, renowned in particular for its Ploussard (Poulsard) –, Philippe Bornard became a winemaker in 2005. His estate – where his son Tony joined him in 2017 – now has a dozen hectares grown organically: healthy grapes, vinified as naturally as possible in this frank style that characterizes his wines.
