Yann Durieux - Recrue des Sens
BURGUNDY
In a Burgundy in search for living and natural wines, Yann Durieux's trajectory is exemplary and uncompromising, from the experience accumulated over 10 years as vineyard manager at Domaine Prieuré-Roch in Côte-de-Nuits to the first cuvées crafted under the Recrue des Sens label in 2010. Yann Durieux has established himself as one of the most demanding craftsmen inspired by the great terroirs of Burgundy.
Farm manager for a decade at Domaine Prieuré-Roch – a major Côte-de-Nuits estate created by Henry-Frédéric Roch (co-manager of Romanée-Conti, now deceased) – Yann Durieux took over in 2010 plots belonging to his family. This estate of 3 ha of vines, located in the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits above Nuits-Saint-Georges, was integrated into his company Recrue des Sens and then increased by various plots acquired on lease on localities and carefully chosen “climats” in the Côte and Haute-Côte de Nuits, and even in the Côte de Beaune. The project is ambitious: quite simply, to produce the most natural and authentic wines possible, with a minimum of intervention in the cellar, which requires the greatest care given to the quality of the grapes produced by unpruned vines (the branches are “braided” and form “bridges”). With very small yields and unstemmed grapes, he obtains juices of remarkable purity, accuracy and depth. Now passed into the Vin de France appellation, rare Burgundies, in every sense of the word.
