In the heart of Champagne, the vineyards of the Marne Valley stretch along the winding banks of the river and the small adjacent valleys, whose slopes are ideal for vines, mainly Pinot Meunier, which excels on cool clay and silica soils. In the Ruisseau de Belval valley, on the right bank of the Marne, Franck Pascal and his wife Isabelle invested in the family estate in Baslieu-sous-Châtillon in the 1990s, and helped it to evolve towards organic and biodynamic viticulture, not yet widespread in Champagne.
The estate spans 7 hectares of vines divided into 44 parcels planted with Pinot Meunier (60%), Pinot noir and Chardonnay, all farmed without the use of chemicals. The vinification process has one sole objective: to achieve the natural balance that comes from the quality of the grapes, with no need for any corrective measures apart from a small dosage. The resulting champagnes are of rare sincerity.
The estate's 'Reliance' cuvée (Pinot Meunier and Pinot noir with a little Chardonnay), blended with a little red Coteaux-Champenois (Pinot Meunier), disgorged in July 2022 and barely dosed (1.34 g/l). A vinous and delicate rosé champagne, with hints of red fruit and a mineral connotation.
